POC determines if the miscarriage was produced by a chromosomal abnormality

50% of spontaneous miscarriages are due to chromosomal abnormalities

This increases to 60% in women undergoing assisted reproduction treatment

Results in 10 business days

Overview

How can you and your doctor increase your chances of getting pregnant by analyzing fetal tissue after a miscarriage with the POC test?

  • Miscarriages in the first trimester of pregnancy are common
  • 50% are caused by chromosomal abnormalities and this increases to >60% in women undergoing assisted reproduction treatment.
  • In a healthy pregnancy, all fetal cells should have two copies of each chromosome, one from the mother’s egg and one from the father’s sperm. In total it should be 23 pairs of chromosomes. Chromosomal abnormalities, caused by missing or extra chromosomes, can result in a pregnancy affected with a chromosomal syndrome or a miscarriage.

What is POC test?

The POC (Products of Conception) test by Igenomix is an advanced analysis of fetal tissue using NGS (Next Generation Sequencing) technology that screens the 46 chromosomes and determines if a chromosomal abnormality is present.
